This summer school on cryptography offers undergraduate and graduate students and researchers the opportunity to crypt a bit. It provides acquaintance and interaction in an intellectually stimulating and informal atmosphere in pleasant surroundings.

The crypt@b-it is organized by UHH-Fachbereich Informatik-Security in Distributed Systems GI, FG Krypto, CASA (Cyber Security in the Age of Large-Scale Adversaries) at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and the b-it (Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology). In cooperation with IACR.

The one-week summer school crypt@b-it 2026 will explore some areas of cryptography.  Invited Speakers are:

• Sofía Celi, Brave Research & University of Bristol,
• Orr Dunkelmann, Computer Science Department of University of Haifa,

In addition, there will be tutorials and hands-on exercises on topics somewhat related to the lectures, possibly a special feature. The intended audience are undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdocs and researchers who work in the area or at least have a basic knowledge.

The number of places is restricted, the registration fee for students and related is 200€ for members of the GI and 220€ for non-members, for non-academic particpants the fee is 800€ for GI members and 900€ for non-members.  Please register in the correct slot:

• General, non-member.

If you intend to apply for a stipend, register here on the respective waiting list and apply for a stipend.  DO NOT pay until the decision about the stipend is made.

Cancellation is possible until the end of the registration period.

For students that require financial aid, we provide a limited number of stipends which cover the crypt@b-it registration fee. (Please note that we cannot subsidize accommodation or travel cost.)

If you intend to apply for a stipend, wait with a payment until the decision about the stipend is made.

Students enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program as well as doctoral candidates with no fulltime funding are eligible to apply.

To apply, please send a short email to the organizing committee noting whether you require full or partial funding, and including the following documents as PDFs:
